La Lingua e La Vita ‘Life and Language’ – Il Dialetto di Siciliano Stai Mureno ‘The Sicilian Dialect is Dying’

On this episode of Life and Language, Alessia Pisicchio explores the Sicilian dialect and why it seems to be dying out in Sicily but expanding in other places in unique ways. She tells her story about what it was like traveling to Sicily and not being able to fully communicate with cousins her age because of the language barrier between proper Italian and the Sicilian Dialect. She continuously became curious as to why this has happened throughout the remainder of the trip. Alongside others perspectives including her mom, Rosalia Pisicchio and cousins Daniela DiSclafani and Giovanni Battista Cangialosi, their stories help express what is happening to the Sicilian Dialect, giving it much needed attention. Throughout modern society in Sicily, it is discovered how the language seems to create a barrier preventing newer generations from using the Sicilian dialect as their primary language. This podcast explores why this occurs and will continue to over future generations. The sicilian language is dying but, can it be prevented and saved?

The Swiftcast : Episode 1: The Ticketmaster Mayhem

On this episode of the Swiftcast, Alessia Pisicchio sits down with Marisa Kratzke to discuss what happened the day(s) of the the Era’s Tour Presale(s). One friend succeeding at getting tickets and another deceived by the promise of the CapitalOne sale left there to be confusion when thinking of how precise you had to be to secure tickets to the show.

With the corruption of the presale, Ticketmaster had left thousands of fans without tickets with little to no explanation. Comparing strategies and talking about what each’s experiences were like in the presale, this conversation is guided through the love of Swift’s music that both will remember all too well. Both informational and truthful, exploring the events that took place during the presale helps those who did not get tickets get a glimpse of what was on “The Other Side of the Door”.

Rough Cut – Alessia Pisicchio

Hi all, so this is what I have so far for my cut, I have a background song of taylors in the background in the beginning three minutes and am wondering if it is a good idea or if i should put in more subtle music? I also plan on editing in concert sounds towards the end and a proper conclusion. Also around 6:47- 7:54 , I understand there is a long pause. but i am working on cutting it out and just need to figure out how to do it because my computer was not allowing me to. Thanks!

Discussing the highs and lows of what it meant to be a senior during these times, this dense interview sees into the eyes of what was experienced.

Justin Rodriguez, currently getting his bachelors at Queens College, was a 2020 graduate with a strive to do the most he could for his peers. Not only has he attributed to changing the direction of social media for QMHS, but has had an everlasting impact on the school’s community. Holding the one of the positions of PR representative, helping bring school spirit during such unprecedented times had become part of what his legacy would be for QMHS. In this interview, we talk about what had motivated him to do such along with other experiences he had as a 2020 graduate.

Blueprint – Alessia Pisicchio

Blueprint:

The Masked Knights is a chill-interview style podcast that explores what it was like to be a 2020 graduate from alumni who took part in school spirit. This podcast is for those interested in learning what the hardships were and unlike stories from outside newscasts, our podcast comes from those who lived through it.

Title: The Masked Knights

One Liners:

The Masked Knights help revive the voices and stories behind the masks of 2020 seniors.

In this episode, I am diving deep into the harsh realities from the eyes of Queens Metropolitan High School’s Student Council PR Representative, Justin Rodriguez, who had made it a priority to bring school spirit throughout those unprecedented times.

Some more information:

I have scheduled this interview with Justin to be in person as he is now a student at Queens College (and had transferred from St. Joe’s). For our pre interview, I want to briefly tell him about what the goal of this podcast will be and the topics we will be discussing throughout the interview session. Justin and I have been friends since middle school and have experienced the pandemic together, even though we might not be close anymore we still have lived through the same tough times and memories that will last a lifetime.

Justin Rodriguez had helped establish relations within the student population virtually while still trying to make the most of his senior year. Though now a taboo subject, we will sit down and discuss what was his motive behind wanting to do as much as he could for the school he would shortly depart from once graduation rolled around. Creating virtual talk shows from both the student population and the school’s staff, “Metro Knight Live” was something that had motivated a lot of students to try and live their lives during these times. Delivering weekly school announcements had also been an important part of the virtual classroom that Rodriguez had helped coordinate.

Some interview questions might be:

What is the one word you think of when you think back to being a senior in 2020?

How did you deal with the initial shock that we would not be returning to school?

Besides prom and graduation, were there any events that the student council wanted to plan that you were looking forward to?

How was your support system during this time?

Did you find it important to keep school spirit holding such a big role in PR for Metro?

What was one thing you were looking forward to as we approached graduation?
